2001 Federal Election Platform

The Australian Geoscience Council has released its platform document for the upcoming Federal Parliamentary election, due to be held before the end of this year.

Entitled "Geoscience Priorities for the Next Australian Government" the document sets out AGC policy on areas including:

	land access for exploration and resource development
	financial incentives for exploration and development
	AGC's response to innovation initiatives announced by both the Government and Opposition parties
	Geoscience education in Australia's universities
	Land degradation and water resource management
	Research and development by Australia's resource industries
	strengthening the role of AGSO - Geoscience Australia and CSIRO
	Australia's geoscience infrastructure and its role in promoting mineral resource development
